The Birthplace of Marco Polo Nearby ancient wonders include Korcula, also known as "Little Dubrovnik", where the famous adventurer Marco Polo was born. Visit Brac, with it's much photgraphed beach at Bol, known for it's olive oil, figs and nectarines. Brac stone was used to build the White House and other famous landmarks. Don't miss Mijet National Park, where according to recent reconstructions of the Odyssey journeys, Mijet is the island where the nymph Calypso enchanted Ulysses. Don't be surprised to make a dolphin friend or two, they are known to skip in the wakes of yachts.
| Sailing Conditions: The best season for sailing in Croatia is early summer with light to moderate winds in May and June. In July and August, periods of calm prevail, ideal for those who prefer calm waters. Winds are predominantly westerly in the summer. From September on, the winds strengthen with prolonged periods of the Bora (strong north wind) and the Scirocco (humid east-southeast wind). A sailing lincese is required for chartering in Croatia.
